Catholic Daughters of the Americas supports the five National Projects and ten National Charities.
Through combined giving, each court and member gets an opportunity to support these worthwhile programs.
National Projects
The Catholic Daughters in partnership with Habitat for Humanity work to build simple, decent, affordable homes for economically disadvantaged people so they can have a better environment in which to raise their families. We provide the finances for the house and help "hands on" to build these homes. Catholic Daughters have built homes in both Albany and Port Jervis.
Holy Cross Family Ministries is a family of Catholic ministries that inspires, promotes and fosters the prayer life and spiritual well-being of families throughout the world. “The family that prays together stays together” is the motto of the Holy Cross Family Ministries. Known the world over as “The Rosary Priest,” Servant of God, Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, began Family Rosary, in Albany, N.Y. in 1942, with the goal of building family unity through daily prayer of the Rosary.
The Labouré Society exists to provide financial assistance and spiritual support to individuals who must resolve education loans in order to pursue a vocation to the priesthood and/or religious life in the Catholic Church. Donations from CDA will help to make their vocation become a reality. St. Catherine Laboure is the patroness of this society.
SOAR! was founded in 1986 with $25,000 seed money received from the Catholic Daughters. SOAR! strives to address the immediate and, often, physical needs of retired religious. Through the generosity of its donors, SOAR! supports the efforts of the institutional Church by distributing grants to congregations across the United States. These grants help to address the immediate and, often, physical needs of retired religious.
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is the leading organization exposing the links between all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation. They are a nonprofit organization with a focus on a wide-ranging and interrelated array of topics. NCOSE believes in a world free from sexual abuse and exploitation with every human being deserving of the opportunity to live life to its fullest potential: to pursue dreams and ambitions; express creativity and hone talents; seek beauty, truth, and faith; experience hope, joy, and love with family and friends—to thrive.
National Charities
Pontifical North American College is a national seminary in Rome for the formation of men for the Priesthood of Jesus Christ from the United States, stressing the unique lessons to be learned in Rome: the unity and universality of the Church, the traditions of our faith, and the ministry of the successor of St. Peter.
Catholic Relief Services carries out the commitment of the Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and vulnerable overseas by directly meeting basic needs and advocating solutions to injustice.
Apostleship of the Sea of the United States of America (AOS-USA) is the professional association of those who support the ministry to the People of the Sea. AOS-USA operates the Cruise Ship Priest Program for the pastoral care of cruise ship passengers and crew. AOS-USA member Port Chaplains serve in many ports throughout the United States, reaching out to mariners, fishermen, dock workers, workboat operators to accommodate their unique lifestyle and needs.
On October 7, 1950, Mother Teresa received permission from the Holy See to start her own order, "The Missionaries of Charity", whose primary task was to love and care for those persons nobody was prepared to look after. In 1965 the Society became an International Religious Family by a decree of Pope Paul VI.
Tutwiler Clinic is a part of Tallahatchie General Hospital and began as a non-profit entity founded in 1983 by Sister Anne Brooks, D.O. and three other Sisters of the Holy Names for the purpose of providing wholistic health care in Tallahatchie County, located in the middle of the Mississippi Delta. It runs totally through donations allowing medical help to those who do not have the ability to seek or pay for services.
The Catholic Daughters maintain a Disaster Fund to which our members contribute. At the request of the State Regent where a disaster occurs, monetary assistance is forwarded to the Bishop of that diocese for distribution.
